The Bountiful Produce Membership of Northeast Kansas is a special membership designed around the convenience of delivering healthy local farm fresh produce each week during the natural growing season of June - October.
Here's what it consists of:
1. You'll decide to sign up for the half share or the full share of each 12 or 20 week program.
2. Sign the contract and pay the amount in full. (This is for convenience purposes! Not for my personal benefit.) NOTE: We are offering a discount on 20 week shares.
3. Join the Facebook Group. This is where I will be popping in to give you all the details of what's going on in my gardens as well as drop off details, etc.
4. When the contract period begins, you'll sign up for a location and I'll deliver it to you.
In the past, I've delivered to Fairview, Hiawatha, Horton, Atchison, Highland, Troy, Lancaster and Effingham. I'm definitely willing to expand our delivery locations so please don't let that keep you from signing up. If you have any questions, please let me know: mindymatt@farmfitliving.com. Frequently Asked Questions:
When does the membership start and finish?
This membership is a 20-week stretch that begins the first week of May 24 and goes until the first week of October 2021. There are different plans and options within the membership.
How long do I have access to the membership?
The membership is an annual membership, which means at the end of 12 or 20 weeks, your contract period is over and you'll need to read and sign a new contract as well as pay for the next year.
What happens if the season is a total bust?
We would never want you to be unhappy! There are many growers in the area and if I can't provide it from my garden, I reach out to my neighbors and friends who are having better luck. These are still local growers and I will do what I can to fill your orders or give you your money back.
How do I know whether to choose a full share or a half share?
A half share is $10 worth of produce and will easily feed a family of four. A full share is $20 worth of produce and is generally just double the amount of whatever is in the half share for the week.
What if I can't pick up my weekly share?
You have a couple of options here. We are pretty flexible and will work with you. Generally, drop offs will be at locations that are open after hours to where you can pick them up after work or on a weekend. But if you are traveling, you can either share your share with someone else or have someone pick it up and bring it home to you. If you simply want to skip the week, please let me know at the beginning of the week before I fill your bag. That will save me lots of time and produce.
What will I get in my share each week?
We grow a large variety of traditional vegetables. You'll get an assortment of different veggies that are in season for that time. Spring: Greens, Spinach, Lettuce, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Raddishes, Peas, New potatoes, etc. Summer: Tomatoes, Zucchini, Peppers, Sweet Corn, Melons, Canteloupe, Other Squashes, Potatoes, Garlic, Onions, Cucumbers, Eggplant. Fall: Pie Pumpkins, Winter Squash (Butternut, Acorn, etc. The joy of the CSA is for you to be able to try different veggies, therefore, you don't get to pick what you get. As my daughter's preschool teacher always said: "You Get What You Get and You Don't Throw A Fit." If you don't know how to cook something, it's ok! That's where me and the community comes in and we can help you to figure out how to cook the produce into healthy recipes you'll love.
Why do I have to pay in full?
First of all, let's be real - The summer season is busy. I don't want to be bugging you while you're on vacation or lounging by the pool for a weekly or monthly payment. Also, it's a good accountability for you that you will stick with something you pay for. For more people, the CSA membership is fun for a while. But after a while, the spark kind of starts to go out for some and they start to get tired of my veggies. And usually, that's when the peak season is starting and I have a lot to give. So, I definitely need to keep my members engaged and excited about getting their produce all the way through the season. I will do my best to keep you excited and engaged about the produce you'll be getting. There's no refunds once you sign the contract - Just know that I'm an honest person and I'm going to do my absolute best to fulfill your needs. That's my solid promise to you.
